Record Collector Of The Month: October 2018
Tell us a little bit about yourself: My Name is Tom Schaeffer, I'm 34 and I live in CT where I work as a Product Manager/Operations Manager for a software company and live with my wife & 2 year old daughter. I have been collecting for over 20 years and my collection has gotten so big that it takes up a room in our house. I have a collection of over 6000 records and over 50 test pressings.
Favorite album: Murder By Death's Who Will Survive & What Will Be Left Of Them. They are an amazing band and this was my intro to them and it’s stayed in heavy rotation ever since I found it. Something I love about this band is they put on shows in cool places that have given me the opportunity to see the country like the Stanley Hotel (what Stephen King based the overlook hotel from the Shinning On).
First album: Bikini Kill by Bikini Kill. I was 13 and I had started collecting vinyl the year before (by that I mean I stole my parents vinyl) and I saw my local Hot Topic saw had a small vinyl section and picked this up. I didn’t know who Bikini Kill was but it looked cool and I picked it up. It was the first time I realized that record collecting would mean more than hand me downs and flea market finds.
Favorite Enjoy The Ride or Enjoy The Toons release: Easy, Reel Big Fish's "Turn The Radio Off" when I hear this was getting released I setup reminders and was on my list of albums I wanted to see on vinyl. I would've It was the first album I bought from ETR and I have been hooked ever since.
Favorite album artwork: Converge “Jane Doe” I love Jacob Brannon’s artwork and this is my favorite album art he has done. After the holidays I will be getting my Frankenstein & Bride Of Frankenstein prints he did framed and added to the walls of my record room.

What do you plan on dressing up as for Halloween this year? I have to have a kidney out at the end of the month so I will be dressing up as a bathtub filled with ice for my work Halloween party.
