RCOTM: JANUARY 2018
Tell us a little bit about yourself! I'm Kimberly, a 27 year old hairdresser and I live in Anchorage, Alaska. Music is a huge passion of mine. My dad, older brother and I love going to concerts. I went to a metal festival with them in Sacramento this last year, it was amazing. My dad goes harder in the pit than I do. We don’t have many concerts in Alaska so I travel to them when I can. My local record store is just a few doors down from my work so I’m in there quite often. About two years ago I bought my first record there before I had a turntable. I’ve been a collector ever since.
First album: Metric’s Synthetica. It’s an album that means a lot to me.
Favorite album: This is always such a tough question. I’d have to go with any album from Brand New and The Decemberists - Picaresque
Favorite Enjoy The Ride or Enjoy The Toons release: Something Corporate - Leaving Through The Window - I have the clear variant
Favorite album artwork: Any album from The Decemberists. Colin Meloy’s wife, Carson Ellis is super talented.
Which album do you wish you owned on vinyl? The Gorillaz - Demon Days / Tool - Aenima / Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar
What are your favorite places to snag records in Anchorage, in case any readers are traveling through your town? Obsession Records is the best place to get records in Anchorage, hands down.
What is your favorite box set that you have in your collection? The 10th anniversary edition of The Postal Service’s Give Up that I bought in Seattle at Sub Pop.
What have you been listening to more frequently lately? I’ve been listening to a lot of 90’s albums from artists like Limp Bizkit, The Gin Blossoms, and Matchbox Twenty.
What album would you like to be pressed on vinyl? The Never Been Kissed Soundtrack would be fun!
Any albums you are looking forward to grabbing in 2018? The new Franz Ferdinand and The Neighbourhood should be amazing.
If you were on a desert island and you could only fit three records safely in your suitcase, which ones would you take with you? Brand New - Deja Entendu / The Decemberists - Picaresque / Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People
