Brand New - Science Fiction: The album is a perfect parting gift from one of the most important and influential bands in my life. The album has been on repeat since it was dropped out of seemingly nowhere last week & likely will stay that way for awhile.
Queens Of The Stone Age - Villains: What a week for music, two of my favorite bands dropping albums less than a week apart. I pre-ordered the deluxe version of the album which just came a couple days ago so I have only been able to listen a couple times but so love it upon first listen. Mark Ronson producing the album seems like an odd choice on paper but really works once you hear their styles combined on this album. Looking forward to giving it more attention in really sinking my teeth into the album in the next few weeks.
Josie + The Pussycats Soundtrack - I grew up reading Archie Comics like they were going out of style, so when the 2001 movie starring Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid + Rosario Dawson came out, I was there in a heartbeat. Upon seeing the film, I fell in love with the soundtrack, which is performed by Kay Hanley [who is a golden goddess]. Recently, Mondo divulged that they are releasing the soundtrack on vinyl [along with a sweet DuJour 7"] and they are having a release party in Los Angeles with the original cast + crew. The best part? Kay will be performing songs from Josie for the first time! Check out Mondo's Blog for more info on the event.
Phil Collins - Serious Hits... Live! This is one of my top ten favorite albums. I absolutely love going to see artists that blow me away with their live performace. Anyone can record an album, but not everyone can deliver live. I have yet to see Phil perform live, but listening to this album makes me feel as if he's performing in my backyard. Fun fact: the album is taken from different shows during Phil's Seriously, Live! World Tour.
